This study tries to identify the effects of physical activities of the elderly within the local community upon daily living movement and sense of balance after performing regularly programmed physical activities as an occupational therapy program to those elderly who are in a regular course of aging. On the subject of the elderly at the age of 65 or more who had normal cognitive functions, the physical activity program was conducted for about an hour once a week for six weeks. After conducting the physical activity program as occupational therapy, it was found that in case of daily living movement, there was a significant difference (t=-11.469, p<0.000), and that in case of sense of balance, there was a statistically significant difference (t=-12.873, p<0.000) as well. The Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients between daily living movement and sense of balance showed a positive correlation with 0.633 (p<0.01) before the operation and 0.503 (p<0.05) after the operation. Thus, it is believed that the elderly may improve cognitive functions through regular physical activities, and improve quality of life through expansion of social activity participation.
